character information.

Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into

DR. VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN

No more let Life divide
what Death can join together

Character Journal name: ~monstrousdreams
Character Name: Dr. Victor Frankenstein.
Character Age: 29.

Character History and Personality: By birth and ancestry, Victor is Genevan. His family was one that distinguished society. His ancestors had been for many generations counsellors and syndics; and his father as well was an honourable man of reputation. As such, Mr. Frankenstein was away more often than he was present. It could not occur to a child, the reasons in which a man with a family and a sprawling household might spend so much time away from his loved ones, but with maturity comes knowledge.

Victor was a frail child, asmthatic in the days where little was known of medicine beside more herbal remedies. The salves and flower tinctures did help with his asthma somewhat, but it was one one of his father's returns from the city that a new remedy was introduced: Opium. And once again it was off to business for his father while Victor spent his early, socially developmental years of life indoors with his ailing mother. While feeable, pale, and regularly bedridden, the doctors who regularly came by the villa would take her temperature and test her heartrate and be smiling assurances when they left that it was nothing more than female hysteria that kept her so unmotivated. But it was not always so, Victor has some memories of his mother walking hand-in-hand with him through the fields of edelweiss blossoms. In the cooler months, when she was bedbound, she would read to him. Anthologies of Shakespeare, Greek poets, Irish poets, American newcomers. When his mother died, Victor was seventeen, ans it was not the so-called female hysteria that left her hacking up blood until her last breath was one of drowning. His father never returned, and so Victor sold the villa and moved to England where he enrolled in medical school and began a new life.

While medical school was fascinating, the texts were not exploratory enough for his curiosity or intellect. He graduated remarkably early, and built a lab in the heart of London where he was not under the watchful eye of 'more experienced' surgeons. Victor's fascinations centered on life and death, the thing, ephemeral veil that existed between. He turned his back on mother nature and made a God of himself.

The Doctor has few associates, fewer friends. Solitary in his studies, he has the soul of poet and the work ethic of an obsessive. He is highly intelligent and kind, but at times displays an arrogance that can be found distasteful by strangers. He has been described as bloodless and cold, and often is blunt in his bedside manner to would-be patients.

He has dedicated himself to researching life, death, and ressurection. He has succeeded twice in bringing three times thus far in bringing the dead back to life. The first, Caliban, was scrapped as a failure and forgotten for many years, presumed to be dead until the monster returned to murder Victor's second(and infinitely more favored project) Proteus. The final creation was one brought on by Caliban's blackmail in desiring a mate. Victor euthanized a young prostitute who was in the final stages of consumption, and in order to create the monster's bride.

Victor suffers from an addiction to morphine, which he has maintained since a medical school student.

"…Morphine. Is it an addiction?"
“Yes.”
"…Caused by what?"
“…Pain.”
